ARTSTART
(Pre K - 1st grade)
This drawing workshop was designed for children who aren’t quite ready for the disciplines of our Beginner Drawing class. Here, students will be still be taught basic concepts and techniques, but in a much less structured atmosphere. Working mainly with art markers and drawing primarily from imagination, our warm and supportive environment is the perfect setting to develop not only artistic skills, but fine motor skills, patience, focusing and spatial organization skills as well.
EXPLORING ART
(3 yrs - 4th grade)
Exploring. Experimenting. Experiencing. This workshop is all about “the process”. Working with a vast array of age appropriate techniques, concepts and mediums, our littlest artists will have the opportunity to heighten their sensory awareness and let their imaginations run wild. Whether the result is a masterpiece or a mess, the creativity, discovery and joy that goes into each piece is priceless.
DRAWING
Our DRAWING workshops are grouped by age not level. All students will receive individualized attention and a personalized curriculum, that way they are able to thrive and progress at their own pace.
BEGINNER DRAWING (All Ages)
Drawing is a learned subject, just like any other. This workshop teaches students how to “see” in a whole new way and offers a basic understanding of how to draw. Working from photographs, each assignment builds on the one before it and focuses on a different fundamental concept of art. Along with basic concepts, a strong emphasis is placed on individuality, creativity, technique, color and style.
INTERMEDIATE DRAWING (2nd Grade - Adult)
Now that a knowledge of basic drawing skills have been established, students will transition from drawing from photographs to drawing still lifes placed in front of them. While focusing on vital concepts of art, as well as personal expression, students are encouraged to explore a variety of mediums, techniques and subject matter which will strengthen and refine their skills as well as their style.
ADVANCED DRAWING (4th Grade - Adult)
In this workshop, in-depth analyses of color, concepts, composition, line, form, value and texture will allow for even more complex and expressive works of art. Students will be required to complete a number of assignments, such as combining multiple photographs with “live” still lifes, a mixed media drawing and a self portrait. The goal is to produce to compositions and concepts that are uniquely their own.
ACRYLIC / OIL PAINTING
(2nd Grade - Adult)
Students in our PAINTING workshops are grouped by age as opposed to level. Beginners will start with a series of exercises in color, composition and basic techniques. The emphasis will then shift to guided experimentation and individual expression as the students progress. For all levels, various new techniques will be introduced, and wide range of subject matter will be explored, including still lifes, landscapes, portraits and abstracts. A basic drawing background is highly recommended, but not required.

It’s an extremely relaxing art and the possibilities of what you can create are endless.

JEWELRY DESIGN
(2nd Grade - Adult)
Create your very own pieces of wearable art! Students will be introduced to age appropriate techniques and tools and create pieces using a wide variety of material, such as clay, glass, wood, paper, metal, felt and wire. We also encourage students to bring in “treasures” from home (ie; a sea shell, a lucky penny) that can be incorporated into their work.
TOY MAKING
(2nd - 6th Grade)
Each week our young toy makers will learn new techniques for building bright, sophisticated, and of course super fun toys. Whether you can roll it, spin it or squoosh it, each creation is as much fun to make as will be to play with.
COMIC BOOK ILLUSTRATION
(3rd Grade - Adult)
Cool characters, captions, dialogue, visual symbols, pictures in sequence and more. From Archie to Batman theses are the elements that it takes to create a comic book. This class focuses on the visual elements and storytelling that go into a multi-page comic book story. Imaginations will soar higher than any superhero and the result is sure to be the most valuable comic book you’ll ever own.
CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATION
(4th Grade - Adult)
First students will re-tell a familiar classic- is Goldilocks a diva from L.A. or maybe Red Riding Hood gets lost in a big city? Next they will decide on a style of illustration- simplistic, realistic, cartoon? Then it’s time to choose fonts and learn to balance words and images on a page. A hard cover edition of their fairy-tale will make it’s way home and no doubt, become a family classic for years to come.
MINI-MASTERS
(K-4th)
Our exclusive introduction to culture and concepts. Learn, not only, about the lives of some of the world’s finest masters, but about the artistic concepts linked to their creations. For example, an entire lesson on blending colors is presented, before we learn about Seurat, whose technique makes us blend colors optically. Students will be amazed by what these masers have created, then have fun creating a masterpiece of their very own.
CERAMICS
(K - Adult)
Explore the possibilities of hand-building with self-drying clay. Experiment with a variety of building techniques, while learning to think about ideas and adapting to change along the way. Students will create individual solutions to problems of form, scale and surface, using slab work, coiling, extrusions and molds. The final creations will be painted in wonderful colors.
SCULPTURE

Welcome to the world of three dimensional art! Learning various techniques and working with an array of materials (clay, paper and wire just to name a few), we’ll play with color and placement along the way.
